A few days ago, I attended our annual company party. We are a relatively small company (but large for a family-owned one). It was at a Marriot near Boston and there was no expense spared. Full open bar for over 3 hours, a buffet-style meal with chicken, salmon and roast beef, plus a live band. It was pretty epic. We used to have them every year, but when the housing market crashed, our industry took a big hit. We are a building material supply company,s o as one might expect, times got tough. Our company, with strong leadership, a highly involved CEO and shrewd acquisitions, we remained strong and ready for the economic recovery that we are seeing now.
The point to this story is simple. Make a corporation were people thrive and appreciate how things are done and you will have loyal members who are willing to be active and participate in corp run activities. You don't need to give away the farm, but the corp should find a way to give back to the loyal members. Whether it be fun contests, and annual dividend or even medals for achievement or longevity. It makes a difference to the people in your corp just as it makes a difference to the people I work with in real life.
Something to think about.
As always, Fly safe-ish.
