Forum Discussion: Starbase Tweaks

Monday, CCP Ytterbium posted about "starbase tweaks" on the Technology and Research section of the EVE Forums (click for OP on the EVE-O forum)

Announced were changes to assembly arrays and labs.

To paraphrase (and give my reactions),
All assembly arrays are getting a 2% mineral requirement reduction on all goods except drugs/boosters.  However, Subsystem, Rapid Equipment and SuperCap assembly arrays will not be affected.  All assembly arrays will keep their 25% manufacturing time reduction bonuses.

This is awesome.  It will make much more sense to use a POS than ever before.

Advanced assembly arrays will have their 10% to mineral waste malus removed and instead get the same 2% mineral waste reduction buff as the standard arrays.

This is even more better.  I used to manufacture T2 goods exclusively in NPC stations.  This will change how I do things.

Rapid Equipment arrays now have a 5% waste factor instead of 20%

I don't use these, but if you need to make stuff on the fast, this will be a godsend to you.  I expect null sec manufacturing during heavy campaigning will utilize this.

The X-Large Assembly Array will have it's name changed to "Capital Assembly Array"
The Capital Assembly Array will have it's name changed to "Super-Capital Assembly Array"

It's good to see a more accurate naming of these two structures.

Now for lab changes...

Labs have been renamed as well.  The mobile lab has been changed to "Research Laboratory" and the Advanced Mobile Lab has been changed to the "Design Laboratory".
Also Research Lab ME multiplier has been reduced to .7 (from .75) and the same with TE multiplier.  Similarly, the Design lab ME multiplier has been reduced to .6 (from .65 and the TE multiplier reduced as well).

Again, it just makes much more economic and practical sense to use POS labs now.

So far, Kronos is probably one of the most ambtious expansions in a while.  Stay tuned for more and as always, fly safe-ish.
